I forgot to mention the concept of "Laytex Foam" yesterday.
Foam mattresses are a luxury hear and there were many signs advertising them along the main road. Interestingly, foam mattresses are promoted as a means to prevent car accidents - I suppose because they help a person sleep better.
They are, however, hard as rocks if you're used to a Simmons or a Sealy...and the pillows are about the same.
In spite of that, I slept pretty well except for the noise of bats playing in the mango tree outside my window. There is no need for an alarm clock because of the many, many -- many -- roosters in the neighborhood.
Hey, did I say there were many roosters in the neighborhood?
Four years ago, my church started supporting needy children in the Upper West region of Ghana by sending money for school uniforms, shoes and supplies. After years of emails, letters, cards and sparse phone calls, the time has finally come for me to step boldly where no one from my church has stepped before ... on the road to Wa.
