The family pharmacist lives in Wa

In the U.S., the family pharmacist has given way to the likes of Walgreens, CVS and Osco. But he is alive, well and doing community service in Wa.

Jacob is the pharmacist in Wa.  He's 72 years old. Not only does he dispense prescriptions, but he gives free health advice to anyone who walks in.  He also does a radio program on health issues for the Upper West Science Foundation once a month. His latest radio shows have centered around topics such as healthy aging, the importance of breakfast for children in school, and the benefits of exercise for people of all ages.

Jacob does not believe in retirement because he feels his services are very much needed in Wa. He also believes strongly that he is gifted at advising people on their health and, as he said, "We must always share our gifts with others."

Here's Jacob and me at the pharmacy. Like CVS, I thought I might find a comb there, having left mine in Accra at the guest lodge.  Error.  I ended up eventually finding a comb at some place called "Our Saviour Enterprises" which is a hair piece place next to a copy center.
